Brain Storming

back to News

I have just been asked by a client to conduct a brainstorming session for them.  It is not a business that I know particularly well, although I have done a small amount of work for them in the recent past.  What they want is for an independent and critical outsider to come in and to help them think about all the (reasonably sensible) ideas that they could develop on their farm.

It is already a diversified business as they have cattle, sheep, arable and a holiday lodge business. The business is doing well. They are thinking about change – from a position of strength.

I anticipate a lively and interesting session, possibly to be followed up with further work and more analysis of where some of the options, if taken, could end up.  In this case there are only a small number of people involved in the business.  On other farms one may want to involve more family members – and even key workers – in the exercise. brain-storming

Brainstorming need not only be about other ideas for diversification and development; it could also be about ideas for management and systems change, or even cost reduction.  Could such an exercise benefit you and your business?
