A common theme which reoccurs on farms is empowering team leaders to manage and motivate staff. As unit size grows and businesses become more complex, the role of the key people in the team becomes ever more important. This is particularly so in dairy situations, where often head herdsmen have been promoted from being good managers of cows, to needing to be good managers of people.
We, in conjunction with the North Wilts Training Group and LKL have organised an Effective Team Leader training day for Monday 24th of April. The purpose of which is to create an understanding of how to motivate individual team members to meet targets and standards required, leading to improved team performance. The target being for anyone leading a team, whilst being hands on, on the job, or taking responsibility in the near future. Participants are typically team leaders, herdsmen, arable foremen etc. As a result of the course, we aim for participants to be better able to set targets and agree standards of work, identify what motivates individual team members to create more job satisfaction, recognise development in the team and how to progress it.
The course is being run by Alistair Gibb of Cedar Associates and is for between 6 and 12 delegates. Anyone interested, please contact Max at maxsealy@fcgagric.com . If the course proves popular, we will repeat this again early in the year.
