Small Dairy Farmers Scheme

back to News

This Government scheme is open for claims from 24 April, and closes on 31 May. It is open for milk producers in England who produced less than 1m litres between 1 April 2015 and 31 March 2016. Payments will actually be made for deliveries up to 500000 litres.

If you sell milk or dairy products directly, you will have to provide information on quantities sold.  You have to still be in milk production in April 2017 in order to apply.

A total of £8.5m is available, but actual payments will depend on the number and size of the applicants.  For instance, if just 1000 people apply, who sold 400000 litres each, the payment could be about 2ppl. If 2000 people apply averaging the same size, clearly the payment will be half this, at 1ppl. But if you are eligible, it is definitely worth applying for.  The application form is on the web at;
