Sustainable Production Grant (Wales)

back to News

The Sustainable Production Grant (Wales) is planned to open on the 3rd of September and closes 26th of October.

The grant scheme offers 40% funding for covered slurry storage and management equipment. The grant value is £12,000- £50,000.  Anyone who wishes to apply must attend a Sustainable Farming Roadshow, arranged by Farming Connect.

To book a place please follow this link:
https://wales.business-events.org.uk/en/events/sustainable-farming-roadshow/ or speak to their local Farming Connect facilitator.

We know very little about the scheme at the time of writing, but this paragraph has been included in the press release:

‘The SPG will only provide support where the investment exceeds compliance with slurry storage regulations, achieving a minimum storage capacity of 160 days and 190 days for pig and poultry, regardless of any existing on-farm storage.’

The application window opens on the 3rd of September and is likely to be an Expression of Interest submitted through RPW online.  The guidance notes for the application are not available yet, however it is probable that applicants will need to have a business plan and will need full planning consent at approval stage.

If you think that you will be making an application, please ensure that you initially attend a Sustainable Farming Roadshow.  Please note that these Roadshow events are different to the previously run Farming for the Future Roadshows arranged by Farming Connect.
