With the majority of the grant programmes coming to a close, this gives us time to reflect on the projects we have gained support for and the huge leaps their businesses have taken forwards, from slurry tanks to garden centres to adventure parks. In total we have projects worth over £1,000,000 with a large number of applications still out for decision.
Whilst some of these projects have been easier to gain support on than others, it is vital that a whole picture is gained by the grant funding teams, giving them an ability to see the whole project and the potential of businesses post funding.
Going forward there has not been much disclosed in terms of how much funding or what areas will be available post-Brexit. We now know that the Small Grant Scheme will be returning in the spring with the promise of more options for pig equipment. Other than this there hasn’t been any disclosure of future funding available in England.
Wales still have a substantial proportion of funding available for tourism. Their grants are aimed at the Welsh small business community supporting one another through projects and events.
