FCG’s Ali Foord to run the Virgin London Marathon
On Sunday 3rd October, Andover’s Ali Foord will be taking part in the Virgin London Marathon to help raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
Chatting to Ali about her upcoming challenge, Ali said ‘I’ve always been sporty and regularly attend the gym, but I wouldn’t class myself as a runner’. ‘All my sisters run and have taken part in various running events so I decided to join in with them and now really enjoy training, getting out and about in the countryside and spend every weekend and some weeknight’s training’. ‘I’ve already run the London ½ marathon and so this was something to work towards’.
Ali’s been training for 20 months now after the last London Marathon was cancelled due to Covid in 2020. She’s found the training incredibly sanity grabbing, especially during the lockdown period although it’s been grueling, building up gradually, changing her mindset and ensuring she eats and sleeps well.
Ali is raising money for the British Heart Foundation charity which is a cause very close to her. Before working with FCG, Ali was a cardiothoracic nurse and understood what amazing work the charity undertook in research and development to improve heart disorders. Sadly she lost both her mother and young partner due to heart related conditions and this has motivated her to support the charity and help make a difference.
If you’d like to help Ali reach her £4,000 fundraising target, please visit her online donation page : https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/alifoordBR_SB72AK2YP7
I’m sure we will all be cheering Ali – Good Luck Ali!
