Planning Permission and Opposition to Your Plans – Charles Holt (Lincoln)

I am working with a client who wishes to change the use of a couple of fields (from agricultural use) to a dog-walking venture. It has created a huge rumpus locally, and they have dozens of objectors. We started off with a pre-application advice request, to which we had a positive response.

Consequently, by working with the appointed planning officer our application is now compliant with policy, so we will get a recommendation for approval. If we had insisted on sticking to our original ideas, it would be refused. It just shows what can be achieved by co-operation. While it is by no means always easy to co-operate with the local planners, it is usually best to try.
