Defra have announced that it has updated it control regulations concerning all Plant Protection Products (PPPs). The Official Control Regulations have been in place for all businesses involved in marketing pesticides since 2020. The new regulations require all businesses using any PPPs, including pesticides, fungicides, insecticides, molluscicides and plant growth regulators to be registered with them.
This applies to all professional users, so if you do the spraying in house or you have an external contractor do it for you, you still need to be registered, even if you do not store PPPs on farm.
The form requires information including the main business address, any other addresses where you may store PPPs, the amount of PPPs you use annually (litres or Kgs), where records of PPPs used are kept and if you are a member of any assurance schemes (i.e., Red Tractor).
All professionals and businesses must be registered by the 22nd June 2022. If you require assistance in registering, please contact Mat at mathewbeale@fcgagric.com who will help you through the process and ensure you remain compliant.
