Mind Your Head Week

back to News

All this week the Farm Safety Foundation is running its 6th Mind Your Head Week. They started the campaign in 2018 to highlight the serious concerns and uncertainty facing the farming community following Brexit and then the Covid 19 pandemic.

Research by the FSP or #yellowwellies has revealed that 94% of UK farmers, under 40, rank poor mental health as the biggest hidden problem facing farmers today.  This year’s Mind Your Head Campaign runs between 13 – 17 February.  Its objectives are to raise awareness across the industry, to recognise the current pressures on farmers and how it impacts on their mental health.

The campaign, which will feature stories shared across the press, podcasts, websites and social media, will encourage audiences to learn more about their mental health and how to maintain levels of wellbeing. It will share evidence, experiences and real stories to illustrate what is being done to address the issue. It will highlight the charities and rural support groups, who are being relied on to support, and guide those struggling with their mental health.

“Urgent action is needed to support the ongoing mental health of our farmers. We need to take the pressure off these rural support groups and charities who are increasingly relied upon to provide support fir those in crisis situations.” www.yellowwellies.org
