The Animal Health and Welfare Infrastructure grant is available for farmers to receive funding to build new or upgrade existing buildings to house calves to deliver health and welfare benefits. These grants are between £15,000 to £500,000 and funding for Solar PV Panels is also available.
Stage One of the grant has been open for eight weeks now, and this requires an online eligibility checker to be completed. This checker will ask questions ranging from your business details and project location to building specifications and project costs.

Following on from carrying out the online eligibility checker for several clients, we have noticed a particular focus is necessary on how you are including innovative technology, such as moisture control, temperature, and humidity data loggers alongside minimising environmental impact.
The calf housing must have temperature and humidity data loggers capable of autonomously recording this data and storing it to be reviewed at a later date. The reduction of the environmental impact of your project must also be touched upon; including any sustainable materials or Solar PV systems you may use.
The questions on the eligibility checker will then be scored. If you are eligible to apply for the next application stage, you will need to carry out an Ambient Environment Assessment. This will require further details of the proposed building specification.
The deadline for completing the online eligibility checker is the 30th November 2023. If you would like more information or require assistance in completing this, please contact Jessica at jessicarippon@fcgagric.com or your local FCG Office.
