Check the Quality of Your Semen Before it is Too Late

back to News

Calving interval remains one of the most important Key Performance Indicators for all dairy herds. For block calved herds the importance ofsemen maintaining a tight calving pattern is fundamental to the system. The consequence of having poor conception rates due to circumstances outside ones control can be felt for years to come.  Whilst the majority of bull semen arrives on farm in good condition, occasionally we come across samples where the fertility of one bull being used is out of line with the other bulls.  A simple check by the farm vet on each lot of semen before the start of the service period can have enormous benefits to the business.
