Mat grew up on his family’s small beef farm, just outside Devizes. He attended Lackham college and completed his NDA with distinction.

He has worked on a large mixed arable dairy farm for 5 years as a tractor driver, then moved onto a large dairy farm near Devizes. His roles incorporated being an assistant herdsman and youngstock manger. Mat progressed on to become the farm manager, whilst still being active on the farm day to day, feeding, tractor driving and dealing with farm administration.  He worked there for 15 years before joining FCG in September.

Outside of farming Mat has 2 young children to keep him busy.
