Ruminant Nutrition

back to Services

The Farm Consultancy Group have always been involved in providing independent advice on ruminant nutrition.

We offer specialist independent advice that is linked to the practicalities of the farm and profitability.  We don’t just aim to get as much milk as possible, instead we focus on producing what your milk buyer requires.  We look at the technical side of cow management as well to ensure the environment that cows live in will enable them to reach their full potential.  To assist with this, we have CowSignals® trained consultants who can carry out a review of the cow environment. Our advice is honest, cost effective and practical, designed for your specific business.

“As nutritionists, even our best diets can only influence at most 25% of the production potential of your herd, it is the accompanying advise in relation to water, light, air, rest, comfort & space that cows require which makes up the other 75%.” CowSignals®

Testimonials

“When FCG first started advising us our cows were averaging 9,200 litres from 3.4 tonnes of concentrate, which was 1,880 litres from forage; but now our cows are producing 4,606 litres from forage (11,453 litres from 3.2 tonnes of concentrate).”

Case Study 1

“As well as rationing FCG offer’s good practical advice on small tweaks … not everyone has the perfect unit and small cost-effective adjustments can make a big difference.”
Ed Burcher, Holstein-Friesians, Arlingham

Case Study 2

“MOPF/litre has increased 2.63ppl (18.49p to 21.12p). Our youngstock have been reaching bulling weights a month before target. We have also reduced milk fever through X-Zelit and FCG’s advice, whilst still feeding a large proportion of grass silage.”
Keith Durston, Bridgewater

Case Study 3

“FCG is extremely thorough and critical when it comes to feeding the herd. They have pushed us to achieve higher milk and milk from forage with our herd of British Friesians.”
Lindsey Carnell, Barrow Gurney
